Where bold industrial choices became a beautifully balanced family haven.

This project transformed a palette of bold industrial materials into a warm, balanced and family-friendly home. The owners had all the right ingredients but needed guidance in blending polished concrete, brick, black fittings and timber into a cohesive palette that felt inviting rather than heavy.

These homeowners came to us with a palette of strong industrial elements, black tapware and hardware, recycled red brick, polished concrete, white cabinetry, grey tiles, and touches of timber.

They loved each material on its own, but felt unsure about how to bring them together in a way that still felt warm, welcoming, and family friendly.

Like many clients, they had all the right ingredients, but needed guidance in blending them into a cohesive home rather than something that felt cold or heavy.

Our Approach

We guided them through the full selections process, beginning with the polished concrete and working step by step through how each material would interact. Together, we softened the harder industrial features, introduced warmth through timber and tonal balance, and refined the palette so the home felt grounded, inviting, and beautifully resolved.

Alongside this, we worked closely with their cabinet maker to refine the kitchen and joinery layouts, unlocking clever storage solutions and ensuring the cabinetry complemented the overall palette beautifully. These meetings helped the homeowners understand how their spaces would function day to day, creating joinery that was both practical and visually cohesive.

At the same time, we supported them with the practical details their builder needed, calmly working through specifications and documenting every decision clearly. This meant their builder could execute the design confidently, without confusion or last minute decisions on site.

The result is a home that strikes the perfect balance, industrial in spirit, warm in feeling, and effortlessly cohesive. A family home that feels exactly as they hoped it would — and doesn’t it look fantastic?
