This extension is a perfect example of how thoughtful refinement can elevate a strong vision into a beautifully cohesive home. The owners knew the elements they loved but needed help bringing everything together in a way that honoured the light-filled architecture of their new space.
Their extension featured a stunning raked ceiling with tall windows that flooded the living area with natural light. Yet one detail felt out of place. The kitchen ceiling had been designed to drop back down to standard height, breaking the visual flow and adding unnecessary bulk to an otherwise airy, open space.
When we gently questioned the reasoning behind it, they realised it did not align with their vision either. And with the added cost of lowering a ceiling that didn’t need to be lowered, the decision became clear. After speaking with their builder, they chose to continue the raked ceiling through the kitchen and living area, allowing the architecture to breathe and the space to feel beautifully expansive.
As we worked through their material selections, we helped them refine their choices and balance all the elements they loved. Tiles, colours, fittings, and finishes were layered with intention, creating harmony throughout the home.
The result is a space that feels calm, connected, and effortlessly elevated—a home where the raked ceiling draws your eye upward and everything else falls gracefully into place. And as they now say with a smile, keeping that ceiling soaring was one of the best decisions they made.
